It’s summer, so that means sports leagues, pool play dates, and lazy afternoons at the park. It also means snacks and chances are, you are someone you know has allergies to peanuts and tree nuts, so finding allergy friendly snacks is important.

Making (and bringing) snacks for everyone to share safely can be a challenge, especially if you are trying to deal with allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. In  addition to this list, there is a website for pre-packaged snacks (the Snack Safely list) to use as a resource. Also, there are countless bloggers writing about food allergies that have many ideas. Be creative!

We have several suggestions for parents, but please label your snacks and ask permission before serving snacks to children. Better safe than sorry. And always check with your child’s allergist to make sure he or she can safely eat the foods listed here.

Have a safe and healthy summer!
